Forged vs. Typical Firms

Forged

Forge is different because it is deeply personal. Every student works directly with me, Alex, and I never take on more than one or two families at a time. That means unlimited essay feedback, strategic guidance, and mentorship that goes far beyond admissions paperwork. I help students incubate projects, build leadership skills, and access my personal network to strengthen their applications and prepare them for life in the U.S. Forge is not about processing documents — it’s about shaping young adults with strategy and care.

Local Angencies

Local agencies in Vietnam often handle dozens, sometimes hundreds, of students at a time. While they may help with forms and essays, students rarely receive true one-on-one attention. Projects, leadership growth, and mentorship are rarely part of the package. Instead, the focus is on basic application processing. For families who want depth, this model often feels too transactional.

Global Firms

Global firms may appear polished, but many rely on junior consultants or standardized playbooks. Students get assigned to staff members who juggle 20–30 cases at once, and while essay feedback is included, it is usually standardized rather than personal. These firms can feel impersonal and lack the cultural context that Vietnamese families value.

Independent Counselors

Independent counselors vary widely in experience and approach. Some are excellent, but many lack structured processes or meaningful networks to support extracurriculars and projects. They typically handle 10–15 students at once, which allows more attention than agencies or firms, but their ability to mentor beyond admissions is often limited.
